 People believed effort would be rewarded. A week’s work could pay for dignity. That belief built communities strong enough to care for everyone. 
 Something changed when greed began to speak louder than need. The balance broke, and families started working twice as hard for half as much. 
 Children grew up watching their parents chase the same peace they once inherited. It wasn’t progress; it was loss disguised as growth.
